Dear Students,

It can be difficult to start writing, so you are invited to join Academic Support for a series of writing “retreats” (from the comfort of your favourite study space) to get some serious writing done.

All retreats are structured and include contemplative activities and discussions tailored to help you overcome obstacles and get as much done as possible in the span of three hours. Their aim is to equip you with the necessary space, support and techniques to develop sustainable writing habits.

Additionally, each retreat in the series will address a different aspect of the writing process, enabling you to master the skills required to get started on any type of assessments that you might encounter at NTI.

The first retreat of the series is scheduled for Friday 7 March. Subsequent retreats in the series will be announced closer to their respective dates.

Writing Retreat 1: Getting Started

Friday 7 March 2025, 2 – 5 pm (AEDT), 3 hours

This retreat focuses on generating writing on the literature. Using an academic article of your choice, you will be guided through the steps involved in developing a written critical response to a source. This retreat will be particularly useful to those of you who are asked to write critical evaluations and literature reviews.

Please register using this link.

Please note that places are limited due to the interactive nature of the retreat. Registration is essential and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. An additional run of this first retreat might be scheduled depending on demand (date and time to be confirmed).

Warm wishes,

The Academic Support Team
