We warmly invite you to join us for a unique and inspiring event—the
Humanistic Buddhism Compassionate Futures Colloquium—taking place November
9-10, 2024. This global colloquium asked the question: “How can we make the
future more compassionate?” The event also honours the legacy of the late
Venerable Master Hsing Yun, founder of Fo Guang Shan Buddhist order, and will
explore how Humanistic Buddhism, the Buddhist value of compassion, spiritual
care, and interfaith dialogue can help shape a more compassionate future.
Whether you are a scholar, student, monastic, or simply curious about Buddhist approaches to a more compassionate society, this colloquium offers something for everyone. The event will feature sessions in a 24-hour “time zone relay”, connecting participants across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania, allowing for a truly global dialogue.
Key topics include:
- Humanistic Buddhism and its impact on society
- The application of compassion to contemporary challenges
- Spiritual care and compassion
- Interfaith perspectives on compassion and collaboration
Hosted by esteemed institutions like Nan Tien Institute (Australia), VU University Amsterdam, University of the West (USA), and more, this event is designed to foster immersive discussions and cross-cultural collaboration. The event will be held online via Zoom, allowing participants from all around the world to engage.
